Membership

The Ocean Grove Surf Club caters for all ages beyond that of 7 years of age.  The Club is basically divided into two sections; a Senior and Junior club.  The Junior club comprises of our Nippers and more about them can be found on our Nippers page. Senior club members are aged from 13 years of age onwards and support the primary function of the Club; beach patrols.  All membership categories are based on a member's age and are calculated as of the 1st October of a club season.

Although the Club has many activities, including social functions and competition, all of these activities contribute in some way or another to supporting the Club's role of providing a safe beach for the public. It is for that reason that all members aged 14 to 30 years of age, must train, qualify and attend beach patrols via a roster determined by the Club Captain. Many members go on to patrol well after they turn 30. All Senior club members who wish to compete, must attend a minimum of 16 hours patrol per season and hold the association's Bronze medallion. This is a national association rule. To see the the types of awards that can be gained through surf lifesaving and how they correlate to your age, visit here.

The Ocean Grove Surf Club prides it's self on being a family club with a strong commitment to its junior ranks.  The Club has an active formal and informal social calendar catering for all membership categories.  It is for this reason that the Ocean Grove Club is one of the strongest and largest in Victoria.
